Wheel forging cleaning is a part of the heat treatment for pre cleaning before wheel forging heat treatment, its effect is to remove the wheel forging the grease and dirt before heat treatment, and mostly wheel forging heat treatment after cleaning, its function is to remove the wheel forging after heat treatment residue on the surface of the wheel forging, salt scaling, and carbon black oil, make the light clean wheel forging to achieve. The key to this process is to choose the cleaning agent, cleaning equipment and cleaning method.

The choice of cleaning agent is mainly based on the type of dirt on the wheel forgings. Water-soluble dirt, such as heat treatment residual salt, should be cleaned with water agent; And oily dirt, be like the quench oil of each kind of composition and return heat oil, should choose petroleum solvent, emulsions, alkaline aqueous solution and the metal cleaner that contains surfactant to wait. The characteristics of these cleaning agents are as follows:

1. Petroleum solvent

By petroleum solvents, I mean low boiling point petroleum solvents, such as gasoline and kerosene. Among them, gasoline cleaning with 120 and 200 solvent gasoline as well. The cleaning characteristics of this kind of petroleum solvents are strong degreasing ability, fast speed, not corrode metal when used at room temperature. But toxic, easy to burn, need to take safety facilities, especially gasoline cleaning place need to install explosion-proof device. The use of kerosene for automatic mechanical cleaning, to be carried out in special equipment, equipment should be attached with fog facilities, in order to reduce environmental pollution.

2. Alkaline water solution

Sodium hydroxide, sodium carbonate, sodium phosphate and sodium silicate are commonly used alkaline solution materials. Alkaline solution can clean all kinds of dirt, no burning, non - toxic and more economical. But the alkaline solution is not as good as the organic solvent cleaning ability, generally need to be above 70℃ for heating operation and mechanical cleaning. Alkaline aqueous solution is mainly used for cleaning iron and steel parts. For some non-ferrous metals, such as copper, aluminum and their alloys, cleaning in alkaline solution will be corroded.

3. Metal cleaners containing surfactants

The metal cleaning agent containing surfactant is mainly composed of non-ionic and anionic surfactants, which has the functions of wetting, permeating, emulsifying, dispersing, solubilizing and foaming. Among them, non-ionic surfactants do not dissociate in water, nor are affected by hard water, acid, and other agents. Besides, they have strong cleaning capacity, low cost and good safety, which are conducive to mechanization and automation. Wheel forgings are also commonly used.
