Rail dowel, also called railway dowel/rail plastic dowel/rail plastic sleeve/plastic plug-in/concrete dowel/concrete insert/PA66 dowel, is a section of plastic tube embedded in the rail spike fixing hole of railway sleeper. It is mainly used for the opposite end fastener of rail screw spike or rail anchor bolts.

Rail dowel is a section of plastic pipe with good mechanical strength, heat resistance, wear resistance and high rigidity.
Before the installation of the railway fixing system, the rail plastic dowel is generally pre-buried in the sleeper. Therefore, it can tightly connect the rail fastening system with concrete sleepers and screws or bolts. The elasticity of the plastic makes it more closely connected with iron railway spikes, preventing the loosening of the entire railway fastening system.
In addition, because the rail dowel is a plastic part, it is the same as the rail rubber pads as a railway insulation part, which can realize the electrical insulation of the railway track system.
