Shoulder sleepers in railway, also known as rail shoulder, is mainly used for pouring in concrete sleepers to fix elastic rail clips.
Types of Shoulder Sleepers in Railway:
According to the shape, it can be divided into single iron shoulder and double iron shoulder. In addition, according to the manufacturing method, rail shoulders can be divided into three types: cast shoulders, welded shoulders and hot forged shoulders.
1. Cast steel rail shoulder:
The casting shoulder is used as the embedded part of the rail fastening system, pressed into the concrete sleeper, and fixed the rail together with the E-type clips. Casting shoulder is made of cast iron, such as GB/T 1348-1988, NF EN 1563 (1997), ISO1038, DIN 1693, JIS G5502 (2001), KS D 4302, GOST 7293 (1985) or BS EN 1563 (1997).

2. Welded rail shoulder:
Welded rail shoulders are used in typical positions on rails. The rail shoulders are welded to flat steel plates instead of standard rail tie plates. The welding shoulder production method is hot forging, manufactured according to AREA standards. The type of steel used for welding shoulder production can be mild steel or medium carbon steel, depending on your specific requirements.
Rail cast iron shoulders can be welded to longer steel sleeper sections or load-bearing bodies, which are used to make switches and cross-layout locations that use vertical rail geometry. The railway shoulder can be welded at a specific location according to the layout design, which makes it particularly useful and cost-effective in this situation.
3. Hot forged rail shoulder:
This type of rail shoulder is produced by hot forging, and the raw materials can be selected from low-carbon steel and medium-carbon steel according to customer needs. Hot-forged steel rail shoulders are used together with clip bolts and special rail clips to fix the rails.
