Railway base plate, also known as rail tie plates or rail sole plates, is a steel plate used between rails and sleepers on steel rails.
Railway base plates are usually tapered on sleeper sleepers by rail bolts or rail spikes passing through the plate holes. Generally, tie plates are usually tapered at both ends of the rail to ensure stability and maintain the rail with the correct rail gauge.
Features of Railway Base Plate:
1. Protect the sleepers from abrasion
2. Provide a flat contact surface for the rail bed
3. Prevent rail crawling
4. For wooden sleepers, the sleeper board has another function, which is to provide a slope for the rail
Types of Railway Base Plate:
Rail tie plates can be classified according to single-shoulder structure or double-shoulder structure to provide various ribbed pillows.
1. Rolling rail tie plates
With a wealth of professional steel rolling experience, we have successfully produced 11-inch, 14-inch and 14-3/4-inch sleeper plate molds for 5-1/2 and 6-inch rail bases.
2. Forged railway sleeper plates
Kingrail Parts has 300T~1600T forging friction presses and 7 5T electro-hydraulic hammer die forging production lines. The annual forging capacity is 350,000 pieces.
3. Cast rail sleeper plate
We have two casting workshops for manufacturing cast rail sleeper plates. We are able to develop molds in a modern way to ensure that precise dimensions are obtained from hot pre-sand or machining methods.
Kingrail Parts exports railway sleeper plates conforming to AREMA, UIC, BS and other standards, and can provide single or double shoulders according to customer needs.
Type: applicable rail UIC54, UIC60, 50kg rail, 60kg rail, S49 and order size
Material: QT500-7 or QT450-10 (forged low-carbon steel or high-carbon steel, rolled low-carbon steel S275JR, Q235, etc.)
Standard reference: UIC864-6
4. One-shoulder railway sleeper plates
For a single-shoulder tie plate, the shoulder is always designed at the end of the tie plate. The short end of the board or the rail gauge end is placed inside the rail, which is why customers always require the width of the bottom of the rail. One-shoulder tie plates are usually used for rails weighing from 56 pounds to 100 pounds.
5. Double shoulder rail tie plate
Double-shoulder rail tie plates are usually used for rails larger than 100 pounds. They are available in 2-hole, 4-hole, 5-hole, 6-hole and 8-hole types.
6. AREMA hook double tie plate
HTTP, the full name is hook twin tie plate, is widely used in the turnout behind the bottom of the turnout. In order to ensure the tie spacing, HTTP often uses a single tie in pairs. We can produce 3/4 inch and 1 inch thick AREMA hook double tie plates.
Different available varieties:
For 3/4” hook double tie plates: L23, L27, L31, LR23, LR27, LR31, H23, H27, H31.
For 1-inch hook double tie plates: L29, L33, L37, LR28, LR32, LR36, H29, H33, H37, H41.
In the market, 3/4" and 1" thick varieties are the most popular in North America.
7. Other types of rail base plates
Kingrail Parts can produce any other types of rail base plates or sole plates according to customer drawings, full size and other technical specifications, including processing technology.
