Railroad track tie plates, also known as rail baseplates, are thick plates made of steel, used between rails and sleepers.
Railroad Track Tie Plates Functions:
Rail tie plates usually work together with anchor bolts or railway spikes. They can bear the load of the rail and transfer part of the load to the sleepers to make the rail more stable and maintain the correct rail gauge.
In addition, sleeper plates can also be used to extend the service life of the new rail device, thereby better protecting the safety of passengers and railway workers.
Types of Railroad Track Tie Plates:
Rail tie plates can be classified according to single-shoulder structure or double-shoulder structure to provide various ribbed sleeper plates.
1. One-shoulder tie plate
For a single-shoulder tie plate, the shoulder is designed at the field end of the plate. The short end of the board or the rail gauge end is placed inside the rail, which is why customers always need the width of the bottom of the rail. One-shoulder tie plates are usually used for rail weights ranging from 56 lbs to 100 lbs.
2. Double shouder tie plates
For the double-shoulder base plate, 2 holes, 4 holes, 5 holes, 6 holes or 8 holes are available according to customer requirements. Double shoulder plates are usually used for rails greater than 100 pounds.
3. Cast rail tie plate
Casting is a common technology for the production of sleeper plates, and it is also a cost-saving method.
Name: cast steel sleeper plate
Type: Applicable guide rail UIC54, UIC60, 50kg guide rail, 60kg guide rail, S49 and order size
Material: QT500-7 or QT450-10 (forged low-carbon steel or high-carbon steel, rolled low-carbon steel S275JR, Q235, etc.)
Standard reference: UIC864-6
4. Baseplates of KPO fastening system
Rail base plates are the key components of the KPO fastening system. They are used to support the rail and fix the entire fastening system. They are tied to the rail with rail bolts and rail spikes.
5.AREMA standard pull plate
For the US market, common sizes are 11-inch, 14-inch and 14-3/4-inch pull plates, which are generally used for 5-1/2-inch and 6-inch wide rail bases.
6.AREMA hook twin tie plate
HTTP, the full name is hook twin tie plate, is widely used in the turnout behind the bottom of the turnout. In order to ensure the tie spacing, HTTP often uses single tie plates in pairs. We can produce 3/4 inch and 1 inch thick AREMA hook double pull plate.
Different available varieties:
For 3/4” hook double pull plate: L23, L27, L31, LR23, LR27, LR31, H23, H27, H31.
For 1-inch hook double tie plate: L29, L33, L37, LR28, LR32, LR36, H29, H33, H37, H41.
In the market, 3/4" and 1" thick varieties are the most popular in North America.
7. Other types of rail base plates
We can produce any other type of rail base plate or tie plate according to the customer's drawings, full size and other technical specifications, including processing technology.
