Railroad tie lag screws, also known as sleeper screws, rail screws, or lag bolts, are medium or large metal screws used to fix the rail base plate or rail. This screw spike is always fixed in the holes drilled on the tie sleeper, sometimes fixed with the embedded plastic dowels, and is usually used for rails with wooden sleeper, especially in the United States and Canada.
