UIC60 Rail is mainly used for heavy haul railways, very popular rails. In France and Germany, it is widely used for high-speed railways. UIC60 rail has the characteristics of good ductility, high fatigue strength and moderate fracture toughness. Its good chemical properties improve the performance to a certain extent and keep the rails in good condition.
UIC60 rails are manufactured according to the rules set by the International Union of Railways. More specifically, this type of rail uses the European standard EN 13674-1. This European Standard applies to rails weighing 46 kg/m and greater. Nine pearlitic steel grades with hardness from 200 HBW to 440 HBW are specified, including non-heat-treated non-alloy steel, non-heat-treated alloy steel, heat-treated non-alloy steel, and heat-treated alloy steel.
